Hyderabad police commissioner Mahender Reddy Hyderabad presented a report on the HC in relation to the murder of Mustafa Shaik. The report said police are investigating the possibility of sodomy and psychotic behavior among soldiers. The court had ordered a report following a PIL filed by defense Gulam Rabbani.

The report said the SIT focuses on the activities of Madarsa, the participation of other organizations, grave provocation army men and psychotic behavior. B. Appala Raju, who committed suicide, is one of the strongest suspect since he was present near the scene of the crime. During interrogation he had given contradictory answers about why he was present in the area.
