One arm of the World Bank will provide Rs 475 million rupees ($ 75 million) to the Government of Andhra Pradesh to implement a project of rural growth.

The background of the International Development Association (IDA) will be used for the implementation of the Rural Inclusive Growth (RIGP), aimed at improving agricultural income of small / marginal farmers and ensure better access to services related to health, nutrition, sanitation and social rights, said a senior official.

RIGP will target small and marginal farmers in 5,000 villages in the state. N Chandrababu Naidu Chief Minister recently discussed the project with a team of officials from the World Bank.

Will focus on increasing economic opportunities for small and marginal farmers, especially castes and tribes, and develop a network of social enterprises for food, nutrition and sanitation, said.

The project will assist the State Government in creating a favorable regulatory framework in all sectors through the seven missions it has established.

A targeted 2.5 lakh small and marginal farmers would be supported under the RIGP to increase their income by 50 percent by improving productivity and improving their access to markets, the official said.

Investments will be made to improve access to services in the areas of health, nutrition, water and sanitation to promote human development by increasing the coverage and effectiveness of social protection programs, he said.

About five lakh households, particularly those belonging to scheduled castes and tribes, would benefit from this.

"We will continue community-led approach under RIGP to improve access to water and sanitation in targeted villages adopted.

"Mode saturation adopted to cover all households and rural institutions such as schools, anganwadis (centers child care) and health centers and help them achieve the status of defecation open outdoor" added the official.
