Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao today called for between providing more than Rs.165 crore sanctioned for the creation of a Technology Investment Region Information (ITIR) in Hyderabad.

He made the request to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad asked him here.

KCR, as Prime Minister he is popularly known, said the central government support of Rs.165 crores for the first phase of ITIR is inadequate and should be increased.

A positive response, the union minister advised the state government to submit a formal request for his ministry, said a statement from the office of chief minister.

ITIR should be created to promote investment in information technology (IT) / IT Enabled (ITES) and electronic hardware sector. The government has identified area of 202 sq.kms (49,913 acres) in and around Hyderabad.

ITIR is expected to attract a total investment of about Rs. 2,19,440 crore that the IT sector / ITES represent Rs. 1,18,355 crore and hardware electronics manufacturing (EHM) Rs sector. 1,01,085 crore.

The state government has sought Rs Center. 4.863 million rupees (Rs. 942 million Rs.3921 crores rupees for phase I and phase II) for creating external physical infrastructure. The Centre has approved Rs. 3.275 million rupees (Rs. 165 crores phase I and Rs. 3,110 million rupees phase-II).

KCR said the minister that IT companies already have a presence in Hyderabad want to expand and need facilities for education and health ITIR.

Prasad said that Hyderabad is a place of excellence in many ways and also thanked the state government for its new industrial policy. IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and others were also present.
