In a setback for Ranjit Sinha, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the CBI director to recuse himself from the 2G spectrum scam case.

Marking the CBI, the Supreme Court on Thursday observed that apparently "all is well" and apparently the allegations made by the NGO against CBI Director Ranjit Sinha have "some credibility".

"For us, it seems that all is not well and at first glance it seems that the claims made in the application of the NGO have some credibility," the apex court said while the case is heard in connection with allegations of the NGO , Centre for Public Interest Litigation that Sinha could have tried to save some accused in 2G spectrum scam.

The SC also rejected charges CBI director Ranjit Sinha to DIG Santosh Rastogi was the mole who leaked the information to the requester.

Earlier, Sinha said he could not file an affidavit in support of his allegations against Rastogi.

Sinha had on Wednesday told the apex court that DIG-level officer CBI Santosh Rastogi was a "mole" that happened in certain notings on files and documents of the non-governmental organization based in which unfounded and false case was filed against him .

Special Prosecutor Anand Grover said Thursday that Sinha had interfered in the 2G case which is completely inconsistent with the stand of the agendy.

"Our 2G case could have been demolished, if the position was accepted Sinha," Grover said the highest court.

The SC also said the change was overreaching 2G probe Rastogi affecting it.

The apex court also expressed displeasure over the presence of a number of agents of the ICC in the courtroom.

About eight officers of the ICC were present in the courtroom, who left after watching the SC.
