Tamil Nadu seeks more juvenile facilities Udaan schemeChennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase the number of contact centers in the state class of students under the scheme Udaan.

In a letter to Modi, the text of which was released to the media here, called for the elimination of design flaws in the Udaan scheme of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

He also urged the government to extend the deadline for applications for the program at least November 30, 2014.

Panneerselvam urged Narendra Modi to increase the number of contact centers in the state class of students under the scheme Udaan.

The CBSE has released Udaan mentor students to compete for admission to engineering colleges top level, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (nits).

Under the scheme, 1,000 students studying in class XI and XII for all boards of education are to be selected on merit for training online and in particular direct to enter IIT and nits.

The institutions surveyed 151 class contact listed for the country, only two are listed in Tamil Nadu and none in Chennai, Panneerselvam said.

"On the other hand, a much larger number of schools have been provided in many other states. Two centers in a large state with substantial populations girl student in science stream is very poor and this by itself would act as a buffer to the participation of students, "he said.
