A brave engineer working with Telangana Genco acted quicky and de-watered to 30 generating unit MW hydropower flooded located at Nagarjunasagar left bank canal, to avoid dipping more machinery and avoid a major loss.

It was last Friday that strong inflows were registered in Nagarjunasagar project led officials to release water downstream. Water also was being let out from the Left Bank canal, which has a generating unit belonging to the TSGENCO. Two pumping units were submerged in flood water.

It was the presence of mind of the 32-year-old Marie Joseph A., Assistant Engineer in TSGENCO generation unit on the left bank, which saved what would have been great loss to the plant.

An Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) graduate engineering TSGENCO his act prompted President and CEO (CMD) D. Prabhakar Rao and other senior colleagues to congratulate her.

Speaking to The Hindu on Sunday, said one of the power generation units in two 30 MW were operating and refurbishing another 30 MW was fired for about 15 technicians.

"Suddenly, the ground floor of the four-story unit power generation was flooded after a thunderous sound of water pouring from Nagarjunasagar. Within minutes, the water level reached one meter," recalled the moments of tension full.

Only a year into his job with Genco, the young engineer without wasting time he asked the workers to turn dewatering pumps to allow water flow.

She along with other engineers at that time acted quickly releasing water through tubes directly to the suction channel of the left margin. "It all happened in ten minutes," the engineer recalled visibly shaken. She was all praise for his colleagues and technicians. "I had the presence of mind and my colleagues did the rest. It was a team effort," he said.

She said staff are still wondering how the water had broken out in the generating station. "We were reviewing the 30 MW unit, which takes place once in 20 years," he said.

Mrs. Joseph let out a sigh of relief that there was no loss of life or damage to property.

His colleagues, Prakash, Rajesh and praised Anthony saying that his commitment to the job was huge
